Trailhead Mt. San Jacinto via Marion Mountain

Besides the having to wake up at 3am to drive from Long Beach to Idyllwild, this has been my favorite peak to summit so far… The beautiful scenery of pine forest and the giant rocks, the views from the peak, the mostly shady trail, and the butt-kicking climb, I loved it all! Like I said, wake up call was at 3am, we left Long Beach around 4am and got to the San Jacinto Ranger Station shortly after 6am. We got our permit at the ranger station and drove to the start of the Marion Mountain Trailhead. We began our hike around 7am and made it to the peak about 1pm. Even though there was a heat advisory in the Idyllwild area, the conditions were great for our climb as the mountains were a lot cooler. The scenery is beautiful throughout the entire hike which makes it much more enjoyable and the shade much less painful. After a bunch of photos and lunch at the peak, we made our way down, making it back to our cars around 4:45pm. 6 hours up/3hours down. Four down, two to go…
