Peak Mt Wilson
Group N/A
Trailhead Chantry Flats

Mt. Wilson is in the books. We arrived at the locked gate at 5:40 am, with 6 cars in front of us, and by 6 AM when they unlocked the gate there were about 25 cars behind us. The parking lot fills up quickly. We left the trail head at 6:25 AM and made our ascent at 11:30 AM. We didn’t have an opportunity to see much of the valley below as a majority of our hiking was in the clouds and forest. A quick lunch and we were back on the trail at noon to complete the loop via the Lower Creek trail and arrived back at the parking lot at 4:20 PM. Worn out and sore is an understatement but we prevailed. Take plenty of water and food as there is no water available at Mt. Wilson and the Cosmic Cafe isn’t open this time of year.

  1. Jeff,

Really enjoyed the Challenge Clinic tonight. A short story; on March 2nd my wife had a near fatal accident here at home (fall with head trauma, broken jaw and 10 damaged teeth). We were preparing for our 2nd challenge hike; Ice house to Cucamonga in March (one of my favorites) prior to her fall. She has made a full recovery and we have started with neighborhood walks. We plan to hit the trails during June with hopes of being prepared for Cucamonga at the end of the month. Although 3 months behind our schedule, we plan to complete the Challenge!

    Regards,

    Jon Bobroff
