Peak Mt Wilson
Group did this alone - but met canadians and japanese people on the way up
Trailhead chantry flat

A refreshing hike with ever loud sound of the creek flowing by the sturtevant trail uphill, took me to 3 best things i will remember mt. wilson
– breathtaking views
– solar telescope and museum
– best apple pie with ice cream at cosmic cafe

i reached the parking lot by 5:30 and i thought i was in wrong place as there was NO ONE but by 6am the parking lot on top was full and i was relieved- started by 615 following the crowd toward the sturtevant waterfalls and met isrealies, canadians, japanese along the way.

the trail uphill took me 3.30 hours which made me enjoy the museum and read about the history – canot imagine that there was politics even in 1890 when the telescope was being planned for between harvard and usc 🙂 am glad wlson found the route and scientist hale pursued to create the observatory

at spruce grove campground, chatted with campers who were packing up and had one person mad at how loud the water was in the night – i would have traded with him anyday

but what a hike – lots of shade, scary at some places as i could not get my poles from the bay area – baggage limitation

overall i did 14.5 miles in 6hr 20 min and took a really extra long stop at cosmic cafe even though i had carried my food. had to enjoy the apple pie

Beautiful – looking forward to doing cucamonga on may 6

thanks Jeff for your blog and self motivating challenge.

i loved the quote i found “May your search through nature… lead you to yourself” and it is really helping

cheers
