Trailhead Chantry Flat

The weather was generally good for most of the accent (50’s and overcast), however about a mile and a half from the summit, it began to rain pretty hard, followed by hail, wind, and sleet. By the time we arrived to the summit we were getting poured on and the temperature had dropped immensely. We were happy to find hot cocoa and coffee in the shelter at the summit, which warmed us up quite nicely. The descent was muddy, rocky, with some loose dirt on the more narrow trails. The rain finally stopped about 3 miles from the base. The final half mile was uphill which was a challenge after a long 16 mile hike. Although challenging, the many waterfalls and pretty views made the hike worth all the hard work 🙂
