The best hike on the Mt Wilson Trail from Sierra Madre to the summit during winter!!!
The #1 feature of this hike is the awesome flow of water that is rarely seen or heard while trekking this trail – surely will be most memorable…
Anticipated that there will be a fairly decent amount of snow near the summit so brought micro-spikes, which made the hike more manageable without the worries of slipping & sliding.
Enjoyed walking on sections of ice on the Mt Wilson Toll Road and the large parking area in front of the Cosmic Café.
Though not totally required, a good pair of water-proof boots & micro-spikes were necessary to keep comfortable & sure-footed.
Overall, a great conditioning hike for the legs, lungs & heart with the soothing pleasure of listening to flowing water throughout a good portion of the hike!!!
Wow! I’ve never seen so much snow on Mt Wilson! Great trip report, David!
