Trailhead Manker Flats

We did our favorite SoCal hike — the Baldy loop. We left from Manker Flats and headed up the access road to the Baldy Bowl cutoff, then headed up towards the ski hut. Took a break at the hut, then continued on to the summit. Weather was fine, and the trail was clear of snow. The summit was crowded! Had to be close to 100 folks up top. Because it was Memorial Day weekend, lots of folks had patriotic flags, pinwheels, hats, and other red, white and blue gear. Fun!

Went back down via the Backbone and the Baldy Lodge. Stopped at the lodge for the traditional beer and fries, and then took the easy walk down the access road back to the car.

All in all a fun day.
