Peak Mt Baldy
Group N/A
Trailhead Manker Flats

Mt. Baldy is always a challenge to finish. The first time I attempted this last year I had to hike back down to the trailhead because there was a fire spreading to the right of this mountain. The second time I got lost because coming down Baldy Bowl Trail the trail was not visible enough that I went the wrong direction and had to retrace my steps. The first part of this hike was always a stroll with a struggle. When I reached the ski loft I took a break and had a small snack. Coming up to Devil’s Backbone it felt alot easier than I thought. I took my time with my pace and took breaks when there is shade in the tree. From Devil’s Backbone to the peak was troubling with the strong winds. There was also still some snow so it was hard to find the trail and eventually I got up and made it safe and sound. Going back down I decided to go back where I came from rather than Baldy Bowl Trail. Strong winds hit me constantly but I persevered. When I reached the ski lofts my cousins and I decided to take the lift. I’m afraid of heights so whenever the lift got wobbly I held on for dear life. I was just happy we made it back safely. 3 more peaks to go.
