This hike always (twice) catches me by surprise. While lacking in any major elevation gains (summit height)…its eerily steep decent and somewhat flat start hides what lays ahead closer to the top. Mt Wilson is a workout. And don’t forget (as I did…even though Jeff warns you) that parking is at a premium and fills up quickly and early. I added a .7mile parked car jog start to the morning. I also forgot about the bugs/flies (plenty this time around). So plan accordingly. THat said, was a great Memorial Day hike with my daughter (recently returned from her Wilderness EMT course). We enjoyed apple pie at the summit…and the cool water pools on decent closer to the falls.
