Peak Mt Baldy
Group N/A
Trailhead Manker Flats

I picked a beautiful day to go up on Mt. Baldy. Started around 7am at Manker Flats. The walk to the Ski Hunt was fairly uneventful. The trail begins with a pretty brutal gain but chills out right in time for the elevation to start tiring you out. So, that’s nice. There are some beautiful views all the way up.

Past the ski hut is almost entirely snow and ice (apart from one section on the ridge.) On the way up it wasn’t so bad. Mostly just ice that you can dig crampons into. However, after the sun beat down on it for a few hours, it turned the way down into surfing on a margarita on the steepest parts. That was not a ton of fun & I had to go very slow.

The peak was windy but not to the level I’ve heard other people describe. I guess I probably couldn’t have picked a clearer day. The marker was covered by ice and snow so unfortunately I went without the iconic picture. I guess I’ll live though 😉
