Peak San Bernardino
Group N/A
Trailhead Angelus Oaks

We tackled our 4th peak #SanBernardinoMountain for our 2017 #sixpackofpeaks challenge. We trekked up to the top of 10,649 feet. It took us about 6 hours to reach it and was such a beautiful hike. I have to admit this has to be my So Cal favorite now with stunning views and scenery all along the way. It was 18-miles out-and-back (we ventured off a bit). It was a very long day hike but worth all of the aches and pains today. We knew we would need a lot of water (4 liters each min.) so we dropped frozen water bottles and full bladders along the way so on our way back we had ice cold water and it saved us from lugging it all up and back. The first 5 miles is a gradual climb and was pretty easy compared to the rest. We actually dropped my pack 1 mile from the peak and Shawn’s ½ mile. We were so tired of carrying them and made the rest much easier. We kept looking up wondering “how much further” we could almost touch the sky but it kept going and going and going. Once we summit we got to take in the breathtaking views of Big Bear Lake. Lucky for us that there we light sprinkles and it kept us cool since it was a nice hot day about 85 degrees. I’d definitely do this again but would love to camp out.
