Trailhead Angelus Oaks

My favorite hike so far! Beautiful views of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding area, Manzanita Flats was so gorgeous. Parking was a bit of an issue because we had to wait to get a permit at Mill Creek Station, but managed to snag the last two spots. My cousin and I chose to backpack this one, and we camped at Limber Pines. We arrived a little later than expected and had to settle for two spots in the sun, but we still had a great time there. Can’t beat waking up to that view. We encountered a rattlesnake right on the trail above 9,000 feet which was surprising to me…didn’t know they thrived at altitude! We stepped back, warned hikers, and waited until it was safe to continue on. Had lunch and took some pictures at the peak (which was very crowded). Great hike!
