Hottest day to hike Mt. Wilsonn

Peak Mt Wilson
Group N/A
Trailhead Chantry Flat

I started at 6am from Chantry Flat, and hiked up the Upper Winter Creek trail. A thunderstorm sent lots of wind (and a bombardment of acorns) and a little rain. But it was moving fast, so it was clear on top. I spent some time visiting the observatories on Mt Wilson (sooo cool).
The descent via the Sturtevant trail would have been nice, but the swarming gnats were very annoying (I forgot my head net). It became increasingly hot and probably was near 100 F at the bottom at 2pm. The last half mile uphill to the parking lot was so hard due to the heat,
which made me nauseated. Not the best day to hit the trail, but success with another peak done. Plus I have wanted to see the observatories and I had them all to myself!
