Peak Mt Wilson
Group N/A
Trailhead Chantry Flats - Upper Creek

It was the perfect day for a hike, sun shining, air crisp and just a little but of snow on the peak. I started up upper creek and looped back down towards Sturtevant Falls. I passed quite a few hikers going the opposite direction so I probably took the harder way but I only struggled a little… well a little most of the way but I love every minute of it!

I ran into a couple hikers who helped direct me towards the trail from the fire road about a mile or two from the top. Thank you fellow hikers, if not for you I would’ve continued on the fire road since the trail was somewhat hidden on the other side. A downside of hiking without a group is greater potential of getting lost I suppose, although sometimes it may be on purpose ?  I didn’t find the marker at the top, it must’ve been buried under some snow but I got this amazing view above the clouds and that’s enough for me. Five more peaks to go!!

  1. Love, love, LOVE the shot of the clouds with the snow-capped San Gabriels in the distance.

And yes, that left turn back down on from the fire road IS a tricky one that would be easy to miss if you’re not careful. Glad you had some help.

As for the marker, there isn’t an official summit marker, although there are several triangulation benchmarks. There’s one in the big gravel parking lot before you head down.
