Peak Mt Baldy

Trailhead Baldybowl Trail

Baldy is an old friend. I’ve hiked to its peak and few times now, and it remains to be my favorite. It kicks my butt, but not too bad, ya know? Hard but totally doable. This time we did the loop – from Baldybowl trail head, passing the green cabin, up to the peak, then back down passing the ski lifts and restaurant.
The weather was warm and says were clear. The trail was messy in places, presumably from being washed away by the heavier rains last winter. Because of the trail being washed away, it looked like early season hikers started a new trail, which is great and all, but they made it really steep with not very many switchbacks. This goes on for about a mile (about 2/3 of the way up).
Baldy’s peak offers an incredible 360deg view of the entire IE! Absolutely amazing! (minus the cold wind) Also, the Baldybowl trail offers additional lookout points along the way which is a nice site to look off at when taking a snack break. And dogs are allowed on this trail!!!! I love making new furry friends! :p
