Trailhead Ice House Canyon

I’ve gone up to the Ice House Saddle twice before this hike and both times I loved it. In fact, the first trek up Ice House Canyon was partially through the snow and we attempted a Cucamonga Peak run but the path was impassable. Since then, I’ve been keen to make the run-up to the peak.

The hike itself is really enjoyable and varied throughout. The vistas and immersion into the wilderness are memorable and I’d suggest anyone who has conquered some of the admittedly “same-y” OC hikes to make the drive up here. Being an OC person, I’m used to vast expanses of low, dry brush and somewhat unremarkable views (Orange County isn’t Zion, after all). Once you persevere to the top, you’ll be resoundingly rewarded for your efforts.
