We had a little trouble finding each other and the parking lot at 0500, but finally did so, and started just about 0600. The day was cool, and perfect for hiking. Cold hands actually. The Manzanita Flats are amazing. Endless switchbacks, on a beautifully maintained trail. What a terrific hiking day and break from the heat. Spent about half hour at the peak but due to the high wind gusts, we decided to take lunch back down the trail. Back to the car around 1600. Could have gone faster, but the 16.5 miles does begin to wear on your feet. What a nice day, and great to meet an awesome new friend as well. Cheers Nika! Hike On.
