First off. This is NOT 17 miles. Its over 20, dont believe the lies. Its a beautiful hike until you get to “mars” on top where the terrain switches from forest to desolate planet. We started just after six. Maybe we should have started at 3. We are a slow group and it took us 10 hours to climb and 5 to get down. We finished in the dark. The fog (or clouds) were rolling in which made it extra creepy. The descent sucked ass, maybe because we did do it so fast to get back to the car. My knees hate me today. I’m so glad to have it done!
