Trailhead Ski Hut Trail - Baldy Bowl - Devil's Backbone

What an amazing, challenging, inspiring hike Mt. Baldy was!! I honestly didn’t think I could do it for the first quarter of the hike until we got to the Sierra Ski Hut. I was running on less than 4 hours asleep and my stamina was not where it needed to be. But getting to the ski hut and having some snacks and a re-fuel was exactly what I needed! The rest of the ascent was exciting and empowering and the summit was one of the most satisfying for me. We took the Ski Hut/Baldy Bowl Trail up and descended via the Devil’s Backbone.

The way back was brutal. I had to reapply sunscreen every half hour but I still managed to get sun blisters on my neck. Lesson learned for next time is to cover EVERY inch of exposed skin with sunscreen!

Another lesson learned was to bring duct tape. I started to get blisters due to the incline and was fortunate to find a friendly hiker who lent me some band aids and duct tape to make it to the top.

Mount Baldy = 10/10!
