Peak San Gorgonio
Group N/A
Trailhead Vivian Creek

At the beginning of the hike I was feeling great! We had our packs, we were going to camp at the summit, I was thrilled. Reality set in when we reached the last 3 miles. I kept taking breaks, laying on whatever rock I could find. It was so hot and so steep. When we eventually reached the summit (because my dad would not let me give up) it was AMAZING! We found a rock shelter that fit both our tents and set up for the night. We were so tired that we didn’t go take pictures with the sign until the next morning. First let me say THE VIEWS are the best! It wasn’t to cold or windy, just perfect! The next morning we got up to watch the sunrise. We had breakfast, took our pictures, and packed up. I was so sure the walk down would be nothing…WRONG! The steep parts were hard on my feet and by the end I told my dad “I just want off the damn mountain”. We were both tired, sore, and exhausted but we both agreed it was SO WORTH IT! I am officially done with the 6 peaks and couldn’t be happier. This journey was my first year of serious hiking. Thanks to my dad and all the amazing people I have met along the way I felt like I belonged to something. I also realized that my body is capable of so much more than I ever gave it credit for. This was a mentally and physically grueling journey, but I am a better person now than when I started…next year Whitney!!!
