Peak Mt Wilson
Group Team Bubba
Trailhead Chantry Flats

Besides the last couple miles before you get to the top, it wasn’t too bad. Don’t get me wrong… once we got to the top, I was either going to spend the rest of my days up there, or have someone from our group ‘put me down.’ I didn’t realize how long it had been since the last time I hiked. Luckily I was with some very experienced hiker/backpackers, and one of them turned my day around with some extra salt at lunch. I heard a lot of people saying that the way down was the worst… being so steep. I thought the way down was much easier.
Other than that, the trail was perfect. The weather was perfect, and there wasn’t any snow on the trail. We saw a thin layer of ice/slush on the asphalt up top, but that was it. This hike definitely let me know what kind of shape I was in.

  1. Love the photo of you sprawled on the ground! I’ve felt that way on Mt Wilson myself. That last push to the top is tough, and you don’t really “see” the top until you’re there, so you don’t know how far you still have to go.

For me, the downhill is much easier, but by the time I get back to Chantry Flats, my feet are so tired. I love that Adams Pack Station has cold beverages for sale. 🙂

Well done, Kelly. One down, five to go!
