Cucamonga – Hiking In the Heat

Peak Cucamonga Peak
Group N/A
Trailhead Icehouse Canyon

My friend and I hiked during a record heat weekend. We started hiking at 6:40 a.m. in order to try and beat the heat. We had shade going up until the last 2 miles. Because of that, we stayed pretty cool. We started hiking back down around 12:00. By that time the sun was up and the shade was gone. Generally, the second half of this hike going up is a tough one. That last 2.6 miles feels like double. But the views from the top are amazing. Remember to bring bug spray! You will be hiking near water for the first 3.6 miles of the hike and the mosquitos are terrible! Also, please remember to bring enough water. You will use it all.
