Peak Cucamonga Peak
Group Started with Brother and friend, but hit the Summit with Third party...
Trailhead Started @ Icehouse Canyon Trailhead

We started the hike before the sun was up….headlamps guiding the way!
Peaceful and perfect weather.
Not far below the Saddle, we lost the trail for a moment because snow was still on the trail! To be honest, we were a bit concerned… we had not planned on needing crampons, nor did we entertain the thought to bring our micro spikes. On top of that, only 1 of us brought our trekking poles, and one of us was wearing work boots….

As we ventured past the saddle it was clear the snow was going to slow us down a bit, and require a bit more caution. The 2 I was with lagged behind and decided not to continue. I believed we could still make it… but I was the only 1 who brought their poles too.
Further on I met two guys coming down from the peak, geared up? Ice pickax, crampons, rope, helmets! Clearly they recommended I turn around. But I just felt I hadn’t yet come to the place where I felt I could go no further.
Long story short, as I began the steepest part of the climb, behind me appeared an older man. 58-year-old Young Lee.
He and I finished the hike to the peak, with nothing but the clothes on our back and the trekking poles in our hand.
The view from the top was clear and beautiful! The climb to the top was a little sketchy but if you kept your head it was possible ! And the poles turned out to be a virtual necessity!
