Peak San Gorgonio
Group Hike Beyond The Hills
Trailhead Vivian Creek

Conquered (again) the tallest peak in SoCal–San Gorgonio Peak, with my badass hiking crew, @hikebeyondthehills. We originally planned to overnight camp at the summit, but had monsoonal rain, wind, lightning and thunderstorms. So safety first and opted for the kicka$$ one day hike instead. We totally lucked out with the weather–avoided the heat wave by starting at 5am, then rain clouds and light winds (and thunderstorms)by noon at the Summit, which dropped the temps to mid-50s. As we descended there was monsoonal rain and thunderstorms throughout the mountain, and somehow we avoided getting wet, and by the time we descended at Vivian Creek the forest was fragrant and wet with fresh rain and cooled temps to mid-60s and slight humidity. Overall, a perfect day to summit this beautiful but, oh so tough, mountain.
