The hike up was a steep service road with not much scenery and was kind of boring. When we got to the “top of the notch”, we stopped to take a break and wait for our staggered group to come back together. Once there, we took on the backbone. This is where the instant steepness began and definitely gave me a run for my money. However, the backbone was my favorite part of the whole hike as I had never really been on something like it before. The views were beautiful and once at the summit, we met some incredibly nice people and swapped stories with other groups. I would definitely do Baldy again as it was one of my favorites in the challenge!
