Peak Mt Baldy
Group Ranger Renegades- Climb for Heroes
Trailhead Ski lift shortcut to fire road

This was my third year participating in the Climb for Heroes and I can’t say how much awe I have for these Heroes! So, when the going gets tough, I think about them climbing the highest peaks in the world. The event is growing by leaps and bounds and crossing the Devil’s Backbone got us in a major bottleneck that kind of reminded me of this line of little ants climbing Mt Everest. The safety was superb with mountains guides on each side controlling the direction of travel and number of hikers. We tried to take a side trail to the top and avoid the crowds but found ourselves in a big patch of snow. Oh well, time to kick steps cause we’re not turning around. When we finally reached the top, there was a sea of hikers waiting in line to take their pictures at the plaque. I don’t think that I have ever seen so many people at one time on the summit. A beautiful day, a great hike in fantastic company!
