Peak Mt Baldy
Group Team SoCal Hikers
Trailhead Backbone trail

I had the honor to sumit this peak with Team SoCal Hikers for The Climb for Heroes Project. It was a great experience! The views were gorgeous all the way. I started at 8:30a, walked at a slower pace taking photos and chatting with new hikers along the way. It was cold in the morning but quickly warmed up. The summit was windy and cold. Saw too many hikers wearing gym shoes with little to no traction and they were slipping and sliding all over the top of the Mt. There’s lots of rock and loose gravel for about 1/2 mile to summit. This is where trekking poles and great traction shoes come in handy. I didn’t feel any elevation problems, however, I drank 3 litters of water on the way up, had GU every hour on the hour and snacked a little on the way up. Hydration hydration hydration is key to a successful fun hike.
