Trailhead Deer Springs

Started a little after 5am at Deer Springs TH to try and beat the heat (and bugs). Scenery is beautiful and trail is well marked. Numerous water sources up until Deer Springs camp. Arriving at Deer Springs camp, I hid my bear canister and two liter water bag and continued up to the summit. I use to say as far as local scenery goes, nothing beats Cucamonga Peak. I was wrong. The peak at San J is simply amazing. Everything was beautiful, including the dark smog blocking the view of LA. I hiked back to Deer Springs camp to spend the night, then took off in the morning for home. Seen lots of deer on the hike and during drive on 243. Now that I’ve hiked all six, time to start over I guess.
