Trailhead Icehouse Canyon

What a clear, beautiful day. Been very lucky the past few hikes. Carpooled and met friends at Icehouse Canyon parking lot. Started in the dark, at 0530, and trucked it up pretty fast for a while. The sun rose over the mountains, and we continued on to the summit with cool weather and not a lot of traffic. We were greeted by a large big horn sheep just 10 feet off the down hill side of the cliff trail near the mine. He was a beauty, and let us admire him for several minutes. Spent a good hour at the top for lunch and then made our way down back to the car. Lots more traffic coming up. There are lots of humming birds, squirrels and chipmonks playing in the morning also. Lots of ladybugs near the bottom. This is a wonderful trail. I can’t imagine doing this even in microspikes in the winter. Very narrow hillside transverses. Just beautiful. Thanks friends, for another great day.
