Trailhead Vivian Creek

My 4th peak for the 6 pack of peaks, I decided to make this 4th since I had already summited a few of the peaks on the challenge late last year, and wanted to save them until the end of the challenge this year. This was the peak that kept me up at night a few nights hoping that I was ready for it. As ready as I was, I still did not expect the enormity I was going to encounter. I had to once again show up early to the Ranger Station to try and get a day pass for the trail, which lucky, once again, I did. The day started off warm, and the steep beginning was a good warm up. The following section was my favorite part of the trail, submerged in the green forest of the mountain was a nice experience. The trail was very diverse and did not feel repetitive at any moment, even when going up the switchbacks. We made it to the summit around 2:30pm. It was a long hike up the trail, and I was almost immediately ready to head back down to try to get back to the parking lot before the sun went down. On the way down we realized we did not pack enough water, and the heat did not help, snow along the sides of the snow helped to cool us down, and this trail had plenty of flowing water which we could’ve taken advantage of had we taken a filter. Once we made it to the parking lot we were able to get to our back up water which we brought in a cooler. This trail is by far the toughest trail I have done, and will definitely want to do it again, taking the lessons learned on this hike into account, and being more prepared for the length, the heat, and the climb.
