Peak Mt Baldy
Group N/A
Trailhead San Antonio Falls

First hike with trekking poles! Man did they feel weird at first but Liz and I got going after a bit. We opted to go up Baldy Bowl and down the fire road since I did this hike solo last year and thought the fire road was a drag. Baldy Bowl is steep and the trail was a little crowded, seeming to take forever to get to the ski hut but nothing like when I hiked Baldy on Labor Day weekend… We took a wrong trail after the saddle and ended up going down a bit before scrambling back up through the mysterious airplane wreckage. Some random guy told us that they were P-52 Mustangs which wasn’t the story I had heard but I didn’t know. We eventually crawled our way to the top where we upped our beer game with a couple of Trippels. Coming down Devil’s Backbone was pretty easy and we took a short rest at the lodge before cruising down the fire road in the hot hot heat.
