Trailhead Manker Flats

Our laziness and late start scored us a parking spot over a mile down the road. That’s ok, we’re tough (haha! My knees and feet didn’t think so with that extra 2+ miles on an already long hike). The day was cold, cloudy Saturday but while we kept moving it wasn’t bad. The poison oak was off the charts on steroids growing all over both sides of the trail and way up into the trees. After a having a big and very persistent case of poison oak in Feb, I was super careful (I still ended up with a small infection on my right hand from this hike). The top was clouded in and the hot chocolate and food was perfect, only we didn’t stay long (too cold! plus didn’t want to finish in the dark). We made it back being one of the few cars that far down the road. We enjoyed a nice beer sitting on the wall with a view of the dam.
