Arrived through the clouds to the parking lot at Chantry Flat. There were 5 of us Des, Cintya, Joy and the ultra legend Jussi and myself. We hiked up the Winter creek trail beautiful and not too hot. When we hit the toll road Jussi showed us a side trail that goes up to top a bit steeper and shorter but a stunning trail. We had our lunch at the picnic tables and very grateful for shade and water to refill bonus!
We walked east to begin our trek down stopping at the museum since it was open. The Sturtevant trail was steep and rocky Joy and Des both took a tumble. We poured cool water over our heads by the creek twice which helped as it was warming up. Both trails are very scenic with foliage but the Sturevant especially scenic. It does end with a hot 1/2 mile climb to the parking lot.
