Trailhead Icehouse Canyon Trail

We waited to do this hike due to the heat warning, but it was warmer than predicted. As new little trails have been formed this winter, especially near the peak, we took a wrong turn and decided to go back when we checked statistics. We also did not want to hike back in the dark. We met a guy who guided us to the summit as we were very close. Very thankful for him as he kept us company all the way back to the parking lot. He is an experienced hiker who remarked people went during the snow season and trekked all over forming new small trails. Bugs weren’t an issue while along the stream or anywhere else.

We slowed down close to the summit as weather was in the 80’s and very humid. There were trees for shade and taking small breaks, helped a lot. If you are going for first time, please be mindful and focus where to step especially on the narrow, steep, rocky trails with loosen gravel. Bring a good GPS device, good fueling, lamp, lots of water, and do not hike alone. Heat is not my friend! Happy hiking!
