We did this as an overnight- camping at Limber Pine and throughly enjoyed it! The hike up was hot and challenging but it was nice to set up camp then walk to the peak.
We saw several sets of Forest Service staff and new volunteers and all were checking permits and taking time to chit chat. On our decent on Sat we saw them turn 2 groups around that did not have permits- so make sure you are legal.
We also have really come to enjoy weekday hikes. All of these sites get really busy on the weekends!
