Trailhead Ice house Canyon parking lot

Great hike! After spending a couple weeks around Bridgeport, CA, I thought the altitude would not effect me as much. Adding to it I started on a hot day and hit the trail around 9:30. The 3.6 to Ice House Saddle was fast and easy. From there to the summit kicked my butt, taking longer than any leg of the hike. I definitely needed a break at the top. I found some shade, hydrated and enjoyed the view. Going down hill was nice but the high temps made me wish I didn’t push so fast on my way up. Packing my water filter was a good plus, starting so late on a hot day.
the Ice House Canyon creek was flowing well to help replenish. Did get to see the thousands of lady bugs I read about on the way down. Will do again with an earlier start time.
