Peak San Gorgonio
Group Friends
Trailhead Vivian Creek

Just after 2 days completing a 19.6-mile or so hike summiting Mt San Jacinto, made the summit to taller brother peak Mt San Gorgonio.

My 6th summit on Old Greyback & 2nd time this year; this time around made it with a group of awesome folks.

This is their 1st summit on Mount San Gorgonio and very grateful to have hiked it with them.

Normally I hike solo on long, high altitude hikes but now realize the value of hiking with a group – it makes the hiking experience more enjoyable & memorable.

Looking forward to many more group hikes.

So at the top it was windy as heck to the point of getting knocked off of your feet. I would estimate the high winds ranged between 30 to 36 mph.

This is the windiest experience thus far on this summit. The rock wind shelters helped greatly and we spent most of our time in one of these instead on the actual summit.

Oh, I must admit that I was literally hiking trying to stay awake – only had 2 hours sleep the night before.

Got caught up posting my San Jacinto hike on F/B and did not realize the time. It was already midnight and had to get up around 2:00a to prepare and meet at the trailhead by 5:00a.

Not a good risk I took… thought I throw this out as a stark reminder not to take this risk again, especially being in high-altitudes above 8,000’.

Overall, it was a great hike with great friends!!!
