Hi! I just finished the TCT this weekend, last minute, backpacking, in 3 days. I wish I could have taken 4 days to do it! This trail from Avalon to Starlight beach was pretty intense, nearly switchbackless, and HOT. I’m really glad I did it though! The trail is very well marked, nearly impossible to loose your way. I only saw one bison. Maybe it was too hot for them too.

Wow! You hiked during one of the hottest months of the year. The TCT is very exposed. The ideal time to hike in my opinion is spring, with early fall a close second. 😉

And I agree–taking four days would be much more enjoyable. Still an awesome experience though.

Yes, totally awesome experience! And yes it was hot, but cooler than the mainland, and after backpacking in the smokies with crazy humidity, the dry heat was a welcomed change. ??
