Q3 from Bristol England. Am I likely to get snow starting in Mid Sept? If so, how much. I’m thinking of bringing boot spikes – sort of like mini crampons. Are they going to essential, useful or just a dead weight?

I have a pair of Kahtoola micro-spikes that sound very similar to what you describe as micro-spikes. They are not quite as heavy-duty as crampons, but really helpful in hard-packed snow and ice.

Snow is always a possibility, but it would be very unusual to get a lot of snow in September. Personally, I would not bring them.
