Jeff, the websites loads slowly for me on multiple devices over several platforms. Is that on the server side or the framework? Anyone else having issues?

Okay, we’re looking into this. As a benchmark, the load time for https://socalhiker.net/ (our homepage) was as follows:

Load time of https://socalhiker.net/ w. Pingdom Tools: 3.89 s from San Jose, California, USA. Size: 3.8 MB. Rqsts: 566. http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/dZiMlp/https://socalhiker.net/

Is there a particular page that seems to be loading slowly? If you don’t mind, try entering the URL of that page at the speed test: http://tools.pingdom.com and post the results as a reply to this topic.

    Thanks!

It’s every page I’ve browsed through on the forum. That includes Google search results links. I’m doing Mt. Wilson Saturday. I searched for “mt. wilson via chantry flats” and you were the top result. I clicked it and it’s taking longer than it should. I work for the State of California and the network here is as quick as it gets. It isn’t on my end.

Also, I’m still working through the formatting of the site. I’ve built a few forums using vBulletin so I am obviously more familiar with that format, but I can’t figure out how to attached a file. I screen capped the ping results from the test but don’t see where to attach it unless it’s stored on another site. Maybe it’s just for this sub-forum.

Anyways, I ran the test. It says the site is “As Fast As Lightning” so I don’t value those test results.

    The email message:

Subject: Load time test of https://socalhiker.net/ on February 23 at 22:02:18 with Pingdom Tools

    Hi there

I just tested https://socalhiker.net/ with the Full Page Test in Pingdom Tools.

This specific test was done on February 23 at 22:02:18 from San Jose, California, USA. The web page took 3.89 s to load, used 566 requests, and weighed in at 3.8 MB.

The Google Page Speed performance grade for this web page is 63/100

There’s a ton of more information you can check out here: http://fpt.pingdom.com#!/dZiMlp/https://socalhiker.net/

I think it shows that the web page is “FAST AS LIGHTNING”

    Cheers!

60 seconds is really, really bad. 🙁 Thanks for running the tests Joseph. I’m going to dig into this tonight.

I’ve setup forums with vBulletin before as well. I haven’t enabled file uploads to the forums here, but maybe I should reconsider that.

I don’t mean to bug about this but as a site admin I’d want to know. I mentioned it in the other thread about the new badges because I love the idea of building a community of local hikers but it’s gonna be tough with the page load times.

Also, Greg Glass got me involved in the Challenge and is my summit pal. I saw you tagged him in that FB post. 😉

Excellent! Much faster. It has taken 3 and 10 seconds for me to gain access to the site and have the ability to post this.

Hasn’t changed at all on my end. Still super slow. Any progress, Jeff?

    We’re working on it.

We’ve switched our CDN and are seeing some better performance already:
