Leaving from HI August 28. Planning on 18-20 miles a day.

And have a great time on the trip. Sounds like you’ve got big mileage planned. We averaged about 12.5 miles/day.

Yes, I got approved for an earlier start from HI too but work denied the time off so I reapplied when I could take the time off and got the permit again.

How did you get so lucky? I have been trying to get a permit for 8 days now and have not been selected. Any tips? Two of us have faxed on application eveyday listing HI as first choice and Lyell Canyon as second.
