Over night or day hike? - SoCal Hiker

Hey hikers my name is Jake. I just signed up for the challenge and I was curious if you all have been staying overnight or just making each summit be a day hike. Thank you for your future feedback!

Hey Jake! Welcome to SoCal Hiker!

Most people hike these as day hikes (there are WAY more day hikers than backpackers). But I’ve hiked several of them as overnighters, including San Jacinto, Cucamonga and San Gorgonio.

It can be done, but the trick (especially in drought years) is water. When we spent the night on Cucamonga Peak a few weeks back, we had to carry all the water we needed.

Got it. As much as I love carrying in my water, I guess it would just be better to do these as day hikes. Thanks Jeff!
