New to hiking, looking for advice.

I would like to start going on hikes. I'm new to this and would appreciate any and all advice. Some trails I can start off with, equipment I need to take, basics really. What I should carry in my backpack, do's and don'ts anything that would help me out is much appreciated. -Tony
