    Hey everyone
My husband and I are hoping to hike Mt. Wilson in the next month or so. We live in San Diego so driving up the day before is ideal. Has anyone stayed at the campsites near by before hitting the trial?

There are no campgrounds right at the trailhead, but you can hike in and camp. If you take the Winter Creek Trail, you can camp at Hoegee’s Campground (about 2 miles from the trailhead) or on the Gabrieleno Trail you can camp at Spruce Grove Campground (about 4 miles in).

Both campgrounds are first-come, first-serve and have fire rings, picnic tables, and pit toilets. They are also next to creeks that have running water most of the year.

Note that the road to Chantry Flat is open from 6am to 8pm, so you’ll need to take that into consideration.
