Hi there. I’m flying in from Bristol England to do the JMT starting mid Sept. What lowest temperatures can I anticipate while camping? I have every bag under the sun but obviously don’t want to bring the one rated down to – 40c unless I have to! Any guidance would be great.
This is the first of 4 questions I have!
Weather starts to get a little unpredictable in late September. The days should be warm and nice, and as is typical in the Sierra Nevada mountains, afternoon thunderstorms are not uncommon. Nights can always get cold. Expect some temperatures below freezing. But it’s not likely to drop below -10C.
