Hi there! Thank you so much for this forum! My name is Whitney and I’m hiking the part of the JMT from Onion Valley at Kearsarge pass to exit at Mt. Whitney at Lone Pine. I have my permit with exit date on Whitney but I have to pick up the permit on the day I am to enter at Onion Valley but the pick up permit point is at the Eastern Sierra Visitor’s Center in Lone Pine. Do I pick up my permit at Lone Pine then get a ride to Independence and hit the trail? And if so, how do I arrange transportation from Lone Pine to Independence.
In addition, I’m flying out there from Florida so to what city to I fly in and out and how do I get to Lone Pine from whatever airport you suggest? Thank you so much if you can help!!!
