Hiking solo on the Lost Coast Trail?

just wondering your thoughts on this? did you come across any black bears? are there grizzly bears in that area? i am thinking about making the trip the end of april solo. any advice would be great – your blog about the your trip has been immensely helpful!

Hi Mercedes!

There are signs warning of black bears and you are required to carry and store your food in a bear container. We didn’t actually see any bears (though that would’ve been cool–from a safe distance).

There are no grizzlies in California anymore.
