We have a LOT of people on Team SoCalHiker for the Climb for Heroes on 5/21. Interestingly, this will be the first time going up Mt Baldy for roughly half of you.

Because we have such a large group with a wide range of experience, we need a few of you to help out as group leaders. I’m planning four groups, with a lead, a sweep and a photographer for each.

Not everyone will want to be in a group, and that’s fine, but for those that do, it will provide instant community on the trail.

Please reply if you’re interested in helping out, otherwise you might be “volun-told.” 🙂

I’ll update this post with our volunteers and groups.

    T-Shirt Volunteers
The following fine folks have volunteered to help hand out our team t-shirts on the day of the hike:

    • Meredith Crane
    • Gerardo Perez
    • Mi Hoang

    • Lead:
    • Sweep: Karen McCartney

    • Sweep: Philip Yoho

    Group Three

    • Lead: Kristi Olguin
    • Sweep:
    • Photographer: Shuping Yin

    Group Four
    Slow-and-steady pace

    • Lead: Natalie Curry

    Hi Jeff,
Not sure what the qualifications are?? I have never hiked Mt. Baldy. I hike about 35 minute miles. I could lead group 3 or sweep group 4 if you like.

Hi Jeff, I can help in handing out the t-shirts, if you still need folks.

Hi Seneka, I’m a beginner and just finished Cucamonga Peak (also done with Mt. Wilson). I’d like to join your slow and steady group, whether that’s Group 4 or not. 🙂 Thanks in advance!

Beatriz, all the details on the route and distance are in our blog post.

Because it’s an out-and-back route, you can stop and turn around whenever you need to.

    Hi Jeff,

If we can find a lead, I would be happy to sweep group 1 … then I can meet group 2 when they catch up 😉
