So I’m thinking of taking my son on his first backpacking adventure. I was thinking hike into Ice House Canyon and stay overnight at Kelly camp and hike Ontario Peak the next day. Probably bringing free-dried backpacking food and / or Ramen noodles. Does anyone use bear canisters in this canyon? What precautions do you all take in this area? I have not over-nighted in this area, and the last thing we need is a bear (or raccoon, or skunk) tearing through the backpacks.

If you have a bear canister, I would bring it. They’re not required, but why take the chance?
If you don’t have a bear canister, you should hang your food.
