Alternatives for Getting to Glacier Point Besides the Bus?

This question came in via email, and I thought I’d share here to see if anyone else had suggestions:

We start our JMT hike on Jul 27th, 2016 at Glacier Point. We did not sign up for the Glacier Point bus in time to secure a reservation. Other than starting our hike at the base of the valley, do you have suggestions for transportation? We were thinking about hitchhiking! – Kelly F
