Oh, the views we couldn’t see!

We arrived at 8:45am and easily found parking! It was misty/drizzly when we arrived but cleared up shortly after. The streams/falls were gushing and it was beautiful! The trail was wet and mucky at some parts, and we had to do some sloshing through water at stream crossings. As we got closer to the peak, the fog got really heavy and completely obscured any views we might have had. We had approximately 10 feet of visibility in front of us and, sadly, could not locate the Mt. Wilson sign/marker. Thankfully, there was coffee and hot chocolate waiting for us at the top! (It was around 40 degrees — chilly!!!) We could barely find the trailhead to go down with all the fog. There was a light rain most of the way down, but we were mostly protected by the forest canopy. We saw a group of deer and encountered several dedicated trail runners. We were also passed on the way down by a group of crazy dudes on mountain bikes — they were flying!
It was the most challenging hike I’ve done and and the weather made it all the more adventurous. I was a bit disappointed to not get the views that I’ve seen others post, but it was definitely its own experience! I look forward to maybe hiking it again and exploring the observatory as well.
